On the lands of the Djarra People, 5 Acre Farm, is home to the Solo Gardener (aka Jodie, aka me), Pip, Milo, The Professor, Penelope, Dexie, Lexie, Bless Ewe and a few thousand bees (pictured below).
I moved to Taradale in 2018 to make my sustainable life dream a reality. Whilst still working full time in Melbourne, it was a challenge to have time to bring this dream to life. After resigning from this job in late 2023, I now had the time and energy to focus on bringing this life to fruition.
In the world that I live in, I don’t see (this not to say they are not out there, I just haven’t come across them yet) any single women sharing their stories of managing and developing the land they live on. Mostly I see couples and families cultivating these beautiful country lives. So, I am sharing to bring another perspective to country living and how, as a single woman, I can create the life I want. It is not to say that I want to be, and will always be, the Solo Gardener, it is just the reality of where I am at, at this point in my life.
Hope you enjoy following along…
Welcome to 5 Acre Farm
